  1. Jeremy's Temperature CSM 1.1.0

  3. What is it?
  4.  
  5. Jeremy's Temperature CSM shows the internal temperature of your PowerBook, as returned by the power circuitry inside.  It can also show the battery temperature, which is returned by the teeny microprocessor located in the battery.  This module has little useful purpose, but it's fun watching how toasty your PowerBook gets inside.

  7. This module only works in Duos and PowerBook 500's.

  9. Installing the Temperature CSM

  11. To install the Temperature CSM, it must be placed in the Control Strip folder inside your system folder.  Unfortunately, the Apple system software isn't smart enough to automatically realize that it should go there, so you must drag it to this folder manually.

  13. 1)  Open your System folder.
  14. 2)  Copy the Jeremy's Temperature CSM file to the Control Strip Folder in your System folder.
  15. 3)  Restart your computer.

  17. Configuring the Temperature CSM

  19. When the Control Strip first appears after restarting, the Temperature module should be displayed, as shown below:

  24. The internal PowerBook temperature and the internal battery temperature are displayed.  The appearance of the module is controlled by the module's popup menu.  To make the menu appear, click anywhere on the Temperature module, and the following menu will appear:

  42. Display as Celsius (Fahrenheit and Kelvin)
  43. You can change which temperature scale is used, between Centigrade, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.

  45. Display temperature scale
  46. While it takes up a little more space, you can have a letter showing the current temperature scale displayed.  A "C" is shown for centigrade, a "F" for fahrenheit, and a "k" is shown for Kelvin.

  48. Display internal temperature
  49. When this option is selected, the internal temperature only is displayed.

  51. Display battery temperature
  52. When this option is selected, the battery temperature only is displayed.

  54. Display both horizontally
  55. When this option is selected, the internal temperature and battery temperature are displayed, using a horizontal format.

  58. When this option is selected, the internal temperature and battery temperature are displayed, using a vertical format.

  61. Highest and lowest recorded internal temperatures.

  64. Highest and lowest recorded battery temperatures.

  66. Reset record temperatures
  67. Resets the highest and lowest temperatures to the current measured temperature.
